Quinta de São Jorge

About the Point of Interest

The Quinta de São Jorge is a landmark well present in the memory of all inhabitants of Favaios, with its iconic character due to its deep interconnection with the history of the locality. Its imposing granite wall, topped by the coat of arms of the noble families who lived there for several centuries, precedes the palace of noble lines, surrounded by a walled garden, with a small Romanesque church, former parish seat, where there is a funerary star inlaid on the side dating from the Roman period. The Quinta currently belongs to the Sepúlvedas family, and its history is unequivocally associated with the development of the adjacent locality, as a result of the strong connections that, over the centuries, have existed between the resident families and the village of Favaios.
